Fitter fitter fitter

Just thought I'd add a little today as a special non-run day treat!

Last night I took part in my circuit Boxercise class as there was an odd number. I then did an hour of Kickboxing sparring and ended up in the gym after for some chins and core work.
I didn't get fatigued at all which says to me that all this training and running is working and that I am actually getting fitter, and if I keep up the pressure and head on at this rate I will, maybe not breeze through the 103, but am not so so worried about it all.

There, thats it for now

Starcross to Teignmouth

Beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon.
Met Adam in the car park at Starcross just by the ferry.
Realised this week that we start the run in Exmouth by the ferry, and before doing any running we have to get on the ferry to Starcross! So in reality it's Starcross to Plymouth but it doesnt have the same 'mouth' to 'mouth' pleasing sound about it!

The route is pretty much flat all the way to Teignmouth, one tiny section of steppy incline but other than that it's a lot of road, and a very strange detour in Starcross around a housing estate!

Adam managed to run without any water! And my water in my Camelbak tasted of old boots! I did, however have some energy drink in my 'Swiggies' on my wrist.

We were meant to be running to Shag Rock, but realised that Teignmouth was just along not far and flat so we did it!
16.5 miles in 3 hours according to Adams amazing phone App :)

Now I have to get together some routes for next weekend with Aiden.

Speak soon

Thursday, 17 February 2011

On Saturday Adam and I will be running from Starcross (Just after the start of the 103) and run to Shag rock (in between Dawlish and Teignmouth) and back again.

So many funny comments about the 'Shag' to be made and so little time! Looking forward to it though :) The picture here is of the Shag, make your own mind up about what it looks like!

Lovely piece in the Herald Express newspaper today about the run and me and my life in general *yawn* haha and the picture! Woah, I am so glad I got my hair cut!
But it's all good and they have the links on there for the justgiving accounts for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Help for Heroes and this blog would you believe!

Lets hope a few follow it and donate to the cause :)

No training tonight, have a Totnes in Bloom meeting which means I have to train twice as hard tomorrow night. yeah, I can cope!

Right, have to go now

Speak soon :)

Alopecia

Hi All

Nothing to do with the 103 really, but it is about running.

I have signed up for the London 10k for an Alopecia charity. I met the lovely @michellealopecia when I went into Radio Devon to speak about the 103 challenge. She was on there talking about her charity work, she is a most amazing chick.

We had been tweeting previous to that and we had a good giggle in the studio.

So 10th July London 10k - nice little jaunt after the 103 I think :)May have to put some kind of ridiculous time challenge on it. Let me know your thoughts.

Ok last bit!

Ok, so I am a tease! More lovely pictures of my favourite part of the coast path!
I did get to Hope Cove but I walked from Bolberry, hence the massive time it took me today.
I did run back though, ankle like a balloon when I got back but the peas soon sorted it.

I think I could be at Bolberry for hours, just looking out, being still and me.

People always say to me, dont you ever stop and relax? To me the sound of the sea whilst I'm running, the beautiful world around me on the coast path can be nothing but poetry and peace and everything chilled in my mind, Surely that rests the body enough?

Anyway enough Totnesian waffle, enjoy the last bit of Sunday and Happy Valentines tomorrow! If you are with someone, have a spectacular time, and if you are not (like me) Have a happy time! heeehee ;) ttfn

Today wahay!

You thought that I had forgotten you!
Ok, the ponies are there, they were wet and hungry bless em - or was that me?
There is me looking distant into the sea! I do that a lot :)
Then theres a lovely tiny incline its all good out there.

I did struggle today I will admit that, but it was because of personal stuff nothing else.
But the more time I spent there running, the better I became :)

I am loving this challenge more and more :)

Ok guys
These are the first of many photos today!
First pic is me trying out the Swiggie for the first time. Had my energy drink in it and it was superb! Had it over my jacket (cos it was peeeeeeeeeing it down) but was comfy and comforting :)

Lots of Coast pics for your entertainment and stops it being just my crap rambling words!

So this morning - I broke down on the way to my destination *sad face*
It was down to the massive amount of rain that I encountered in my tiny old car.
A quick spray of the old fav WD (water dispersant) 40 and I was on my way again with a little bit of a chug and splutter!
I changed my plan of the day due to the car thing, thought it best not to drive too far so went to Salcombe to do there to Hope Cove.

Crappy ankle after a slide downhill at Soar Mill Cove so just did to Bolberry today and back.

We are doing the same route next week and it is as wet as a wet thing, oh no you havent seen the pony pictures (or some would say they are all pony! heeheee) next blog!

Anyway I have gone on long enough

ttfn :)

Different training stuff

Morning

Although running training is important, I do other stuff to keep me fit :)

Last night I met up with a friend of mine, Jo who is a black belt in TKD. This is our third get-together for a bit of padwork and sparring for 2 hours.

Jo is a fit chick, loves exercise like me and doesn't mind hitting, or being hit! Great sparring partner.
So we did 2 hours, learnt a lot, got a few carpet burns on the feet and got a good sweat up. The bursts of exercise in this although are not long-distance orientated is very good cardiovascular exercise and will help get me up the hard hills :)

I then went to the gym and spent an hour with the chin bar, chins and hanging leg raises. I can certainly feel it this morning.

Anyway, thought I'd give you something a little different to read thats not coast-based!

Shaldon to Torquay

Well Helloooo there again,
Have a look at these gorgeous piccies from my jaunt on the coast path yesterday.
Not as sunny as shiny and lovely as the other photos but it goes to show that the environment I'm going to be running in is just as gorgeous whatever the weather.

Not very impressed with the section yesterday although if it's sunny the woodland there will provide a lot of shade.
No real testing hills really but lots of steps up and down in the woody bits, a few areas of road where the coast is falling into the sea, a pub right on the path (liquid carb break)but mostly the vegetation restricts the lovely sea view.

An easy shady bit from what I can see, a slippery mudfest if it's wet, lots of sliding about!

Next coast path excitement will be on Sunday - Wembury to wherever I can get to! :)

Weekend off

Hi All
Sorry I've been quiet but I had my Mum to stay for the weekend and I like to make the most of my time with her :)

We did however make it to the coast, I didn't make Mum run but we went to Bigbury with the dogs and watched some Kite Surfing.

Tomorrow I have the day off to do another section of coast from Shaldon to Torquay and a bit of planning at the same time. The dogs will be coming for this one.

Then Sunday back to the coast not sure which section yet but I'm going to make it a good'un now that I no longer drink and go out Saturday nights :(

Let you know how I get on tomorrow

Bye for now

1st February already

Art'noon!
No running last night, took a Boxercise class and a Kickboxing class. Odd numbers in both so took part in both - Ace!

Then did the videos for the Team warrior 90 day challenge - Day 1 of Chins and press-ups. Managed 50 press-ups continuous, could have done more with a quick break but its not about that its about endurance.
Managed 7 Chins but looking back at the video not too happy as I dont extend my arms all the way down at the moment, but its about improvement and I need to improve.

As for the 6-pack, I swapped my dinner glass of wine for a herbal detox tea and then a chamomile tea, and then another chamomile tea! It will take a bit of getting used to, but again no pain, no gain as with everything in life.

I popped into the South West Coast Path offices today to say 'hi' and have a chat about the challenge. I also bought a massive poster showing the coast path which should help me plan and navigate better after Sundays 'getting lost' adventure haha :)
They seem very helpful and fully supportive of the charities we have chosen and have said whatever they can do to help they will. Which is nice.
Check out the website http://www.swcp.org.uk

Anyway, taking Boxercise tonight and Kickboxing after that so no running again tonight, make up for it later in the week and the weekend though and lots of physical hard graft planned for Thursday :)

Write soon
