Mothecombe to Wembury

Sunday 30th January - attempted to run Mothecombe to Wembury and back.
Erm.... had a few issues.
Mothecombe to Noss Mayo, great!
Noss Mayo to Newton Ferrers no problem.
Ok, so I should have actually researched this next bit, I forgot that the Yealm needs to be crossed by Ferry at this point. I only had enough money on me for the first one! I then got lost in Newton Ferrers in a Woodland for about 40 minutes!

Finally found my way out of the wood, made it back to Mothecombe and got in the car to Wembury to do the last bit! haha Silly silly girl!
On the plus side, at least I know that we will only need one boat as the 2 crossings are so near each other! It's all a learning curve eh?

Wembury was packed as it was such a beautiful day and I finally got to see the Giant Mewstone which looked mightily impressive in the sunshine.

Anyway, did the last bit, Wembury to Warren Point and back which was very pretty and very flat considering.

Note to self - must research the route before leaving next time! Haha :)

Enjoy the photos :)

Update :)

Hi!

Thought I'd give you an update on what's happening all things 103-wise!

Team expansion - although the Devon Tree runners side of the Team has decreased we may be gaining another runner - James. I hope that he will decide to join us for this mammoth event.

Coming up we have Adam and Stuart training the path and at the end of the month I get the pleasure of Aidens company whilst training. Aiming to get 2 runs in that weekend which would be good :)

I did 10k Tuesday night, just kickboxing and Tai Chi last night and mixing up Sparring and running tonight with more running Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It's all on track and going well and my ankle seems to be healing well.

Will keep you posted, dont forget to look on our twitter updates @swldevon @dtsdevon and of course @runningardener and also the Devon Tree Services LTD Facebook page.

Speak soon :) D

Bad News

Well this morning I am the Blogger of bad news :(

For personal reasons 2 runners have pulled out of the mighty 103 challenge.
It looks as though it's just little me and friends now.

Never fear though as I am more than up for it and training hard for it too.

I have asked the 2 guys to help promote the run more and get more sponsorship for it and one of them will be adding to the challenge with a bench press challenge.
He currently presses 142.5k and by the end of May he has been set the challenge to bench press 150kg so donations will come from that too! It's never all bad ;)

See you soon

New section of coast

Sunday 23rd January

Beautiful sunny day, decided to start at Bigbury and do 6 miles and 6 miles back.
The ankle was a little sore otherwise I would have done my planned 20 miles.

The hills from Challaborough are pretty mountainous! Really steep, as usual worse for me going down than up which is kind of nice I guess that I dont get daunted anymore by going up hills.
It is annoying though that I could make up time on the downhill sections but down have the balls to just peg it down them child-like! I am such a wimp, but I think that at the moment has more to me not wanting to turn my ankle over again whilst it's healing and getting stronger.
I MUST work in going down hills! That's my newest challenge to conquer whilst I am training.

Planned team training still ok for 20th Feb with Adam and James and 27th/28th with Aiden.

Also, have it in mind now that I want to do from the start in Exmouth, overnight until the morning some point mid March as it is necessary to see what kind of time we will be at places on route. We will also need to see what it's like running on the coast at night with just head torches.

Be back soon, have a great Monday.

Frosty morning

Good morning
Frosty -2 this morning at the yard but the sun is shining now on the frosty white fields and it looks beautiful out there.
No running last night, ankle very painful after the run at the weekend.
I had to go back to pea and heat treatment again last night but it seems to have worked and feels a lot easier today.
I'm thinking a treadmill run tomorrow for my birthday gym session and then a run on the coastpath on friday instead of the horse ride.

On Sunday 16th January I 'Ran Rampage'in Bagshot.
It was a Dirty 10k on a nuts terrain of hills, more hills and deep water.
managed to do it in 59 minutes which was good for a first run outside since spraining my ankle on 19th December.
Met Iwan Thomas, lovely man with a great bottom and had the best time.
have a look on www.runrampage.com and there are some great photos on their facebook page also.
next run will be Sunday on the Coastpath hopefully with Paul and Daz and run planned for 20th february with 'Jamesthekat' and 'H4Hcricket'
See you soon

There will be photos I am sure and a few of us are running in fancy dress!

It may not be the coast path but it will be a great challenge :)

Team training planning

So, a week Sunday (23rd) a small run on the coast path planned, have asked Daz and Paul to come along.
Then, Aiden coming down to train for the weekend 28th February. We can get a short run in one the Saturday and a long run in on the Sunday.
This weekend is RunRampage so that's my training for this weekend sorted. A nice hilly dirty 10k :)

Peas and microwaves

Took 2 classes last night rather than training myself, so took the opportunity to leg it on the treadmill before the gym closed so that I at least did something.

Ran for 25 mins at 15kph then the last 2 mins upped it to 17kph and sprinted like a nutter! Felt good after and the ankle stood up to it.

Went home, did the frozen ea and microwaved oat bag treatment and it's all good today.

Looks like I'm ok and on track for the Dirty 10k in Surrey on Sunday!

So these pictures are from yesterdays training session on the Coastpath.
It was a slower session yesterday as my ankle was a bit tender, had done a lot of running Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat and danced until 3am Sunday morning which never helps!
Anyway, the dogs, my Paddy and Murphy decided they wanted to come out and train too with me, so on went their leads and off we went.

You can see how beautiful the route is, even when it's raining it still has a certain feeling of calm and beauty. It really stirs up the poetry of your soul being out there.

The dogs found it fantastic, I've decided to take them on a shorter walk on the Coastpath on Saturday afternoons and leave the longer faster run for just me on a Sunday. Will start on the weekend of 22nd as I have a 10k in Surrey next Sunday. (RunRampage)

Enjoy the photos and I will be back!

Herald Express

Had a lunchtime interview today with a lovely lady from the Herald Express newspaper, Naomi.
We had a long chat about the 103 mile challenge, amongst other things and it went really well.
Keep an eye out in the paper for it

Running well

Morning all

Last night I did 6k on the treadmill, slow 11k pace nice and steady and it went really well.
Ankle is holding up perfectly, some slight pain and swelling still but other than that it's all good!
Going to try 10k treadmill tonight and then a proper run outside at the weekend.

Day 2 back at work

Afternoon
Day 2 back at work after Christmas - forgot that I'd even had a holiday now!

Last night I took my first Boxercise class of the year at Marldon. If they ache half as much as I do today then we're getting somewhere, although to be fair I think I'm now aching from my sparring session with Joanna on Monday afternoon.

The ankle has held up ok after last nights Boxercise aerobics and is getting stronger.
I am defo going on a run on Sunday, particularly as its only 2 weeks until @RunRampage, the dirty 10k run in Surrey with all the Tweeters :)

Talking of tweeting, dont forget we have a Devon Tree Services Twitter - @dtsdevon and also one for South West Landscapes @swldevon and also my own personal twitter @runningardener and we also have a Devon Tree SErvices LTD facebook page.

That's all from me for this afternoon, catch up with you soon.

Back to it......

Morning, back to work today, have done some training over Christmas but having a sprained ankle and flu didnt really help me at all!

Back to teaching today - Boxercise, then Kickboxing tomorrow so all back to normal.

Running again properly on Sunday on the coastpath.

Will keep you up to date as the week progresses, ankle seems to be holding up ok, so watch this space.....
