Torquay to Brixham and back!

Here it is! The long awaited Friday training session haha :)

Morning!

Right, so Friday I did Torquay to Brixham and back again on a hot sunny day too. I am still suffering from the chaffage from my camelbak :(

I raked it along the seafront areas and made good time, then on the approach to Broadsands I came across the enemy! A Viaduct! Da da daaaaaaaa! *evil sound effect*

So what could I do? I had to continue on route, I had to do it!

So you see the photos! There was a large element of screaming involved before finally composing myself and standing underneath the bugger and taking a photo of it! Fear conquered (sort of) and I had to run back under it again on the way back :) Oooh look at me!

So, just one section missing now! Slapton to Salcombe, not sure how far it is but it will be my next run :) Then that's it, the whole route covered!

See you soon :)

Salcombe Coastal Marathon 2011

So excited!
Just found out about the Salcombe Coastal Marathon 2011, it's on 30th April and will be a great little training run in preparation for the big'un!

Park at Slapton, get bussed to Bantham and run back, with a little ferry crossing at Salcombe for a quick fuelling :)

It's my favourite part of the 103 challenge and when we do it, it will be in reverse (harder) and at night.

have asked Adam if he's available to run too, and tweeted for anyone else to come join and see just why I love running the Coast path every weekend :)

There, excitement off my chest for a few minutes!

Back on the path 19th March 2011

Well hellooooo there!
I am a most happy happy happy little bunny right now.
Reasons?
1. Sun was shining
2. New Camelbak is super super cool and special and the water tastes like water!
3. Trail shoes are still super fantastic on dry or wet ground.
4. I was running again!!!

I started at Wembury, managed to squeeze my tiny little car into a space that actually didnt exist!

Then run run run, no serious inclines, a few steps, bit of mud but fantastic views as usual.
The view towards Plymouth was amazing, I never thought I would see the approach to Plymouth so pretty!

I met some fantastic people on route, they all asked about the run as they read my t shirt! The first couple were walking the path and took my picture by the Giant Mewstone, very sweet!

The next couple were going to donate money to the run!

Then I met a couple of running ladies out walking with their friends, they are going to run a few of the miles with us on the day too :) How cool is that?
The training out there is certainly spreading the word and it's all positive!

Oh and there's a special doormat on the coast path that says something like welcome to Plymouth please wipe your feet! I thought that was very special :)

Then I ran back again!

Next weekend I am doing another section not yet covered and then I think I've done the whole 103 route. Next week Torquay to Brixham :)

So there you go, I am complete again, my stress has pretty much gone now I've had a good run. Does that make me sound like a hound? haha

Speak soon :)

Hi All
Happy Comic Relief Friday! I have been streaking all day on Twitter and Facebook in the name of charity for Comic Relief #TweetStreak as have others, donating money and having a naked Avatar or profile picture!

Tomorrow, I will be back fully clothed and running on the Coast path on an area not yet covered by myself.
I do have a brand spanking new shiny Camelbak Helena, specially designed for women, make up drawer, lipstick holder and mirror accessories! *Joking*
But it does have a 3 litre water capacity and a rain cover and everything!

Will be taking photos as usual and blog when I'm back!

Have a great weekend

Dont forget to donate to Comic relief :)

No Stress Fracture!

Ok, Fast Blog update from me!

Called the doctors - No Stress fracture!!!! Wahay!

Back at it on saturday afternoon - Coast path here I come

Whoop Whoop!

:)

Training update.....

Good Morning all, Happy St Patricks day :)

Well, I had my X-ray on Tuesday and I am still waiting for the results! I am going to pester the doctor today about it as I need to plan my training accordingly.

I cant run and I am really really missing the coast runs already and I've only had one week off from it!

I've done some bike in the gym and also swimming - last night I was in the pool cracking on quite nicely until an onslaught of overweight women came in and took up every available amount of swimming space. Side by side, heads out of the water chatting away without a care about my training needs at all!! I got so annoyed after 20 lengths that I had to get out before I got violent! So I sat and sweated in the sauna for a bit before sulking off to the gym to stretch.

Today I have an 'In Bloom' meeting in the pub, so no training today but have a great 2 hour gym session planned for tomorrow night and training Saturday afternoon! Not sure what yet the X-ray results will predict that one.

So I am miserable, depressed and very stressed out about the whole thing, thankfully the sun is shining and I'm back out on the motorbike again :)

Post soon

Slight hitch in training

Thought I'd put a picture of some pretty daffs just close to Stoke Flemming to distract us all slightly from what I have to say.

I had to go to the doctors yesterday as my ankle and foot are still painful when training. The good news was the the swellling on the outside of my ankle is just usual from a sprain as bad as I had.
He asked if that was all and I said that the most pain is from under my foot, he had a little feel about and I told him where the pain was and he said that I probably have a stress fracture :(

I have to call tomorrow to book an X-ray and then we will see, in the meantime I have to rest! What? Or I'm allowed to swim and bike, both of which bore me to tears, but if I must :(

I did about an hour of swimming and sauna last night, resting tonight, then back to more tomorrow! I will update as to the whether it is defo a stress fracture or not as soon as I find out.

Either way as I see it, I've completed 90% of the whole course so far, as long as I keep up the CV with swimming and cycling then I can still do it!
I'm going to get the route cards from the SWCPA so I can read them and sit on an exercise bike at the same time. It all helps!

Will keep updating my training, have 2 hours with Kathleen again on Friday night so all good.

TTFN :)

#3 final bit of today :)

So a couple of dodgy pics of me being cold!
And also had to take a pic of Doris the sheep and her friends who were between Slapton and Stoke Flemming (not Bob)
And the Stiles! So so many on this section, and you think oh yeah it's just a wooden step over, but at this point in the run they are going to be a challenging night time bit!
So about 16 miles today just over 3 hours but was there and back, oh and the cheeky tree root is posted here the sprained ankle root!
Ok, speak soon, going to try and take a day off in the week to train :)
Keep looking at my photos haha
x Me

Training #2 today :)

So.... it continued....
Beautiful seaside, got to Blackpool Sands!
Odd wavering off Coastpath through a Village Green where they have cut milk containers so as to collect and dispose of doggie poopoos! Hilarious!

Then a massive incline, I mean massive but it's all good, cos when you get to the top its amazin!
Next.............

Pre-grading/training #1

Well, Heloooo! This morning I got up, packed my running kit, and my sparring kit and headed to Dartmouth!
At approx. 0930 hrs I had my 2nd degree Black belt pre-grading in Kickboxing!
One of my Ipplepen students got a credit pass so I am very happy!
I find out the results of my pre-grade this week *nibbles nails nervously*

So after my warm-up I got kitted up in lycra and hit the path!
Remember December 19th 2010? I do as I sprained my ankle on this very path 1.5 ish miles in! Check out the pics on the coming blog of the tree root that got me! haha

Anyway, NEW NEW NEW trail shoes, very excited comfy to start, no probs and used Aidens pole to keep me upright! (Thankyou MR)

So I managed over 1.5 miles yay! haha
It's a lovely piece of the route, I have included bit of nasty cheeky slope that I encountered before Stoke Flemming!

OOh next bit of BLOG awaits!..........
It's coming, complete with pics, most people just look at them and dont read my useless banter! :)

Team Training Weekend 26-27th February

Team Training weekend started on Saturday afternoon in Salcombe. I know I run this bit loads now, but we all need to know the route and we will be running this bit at night so I wanted the team to see it during the daylight hours.
Nice bit of running to Bolberry and back again, just before it got dark.

Loaded up with carbs that night ready for the day ahead.

Sunday morning, kitted up, carbed up and then it started to rain!
By the time we got to Brixham it was absolutely peeing it down but hell, we had to run so off we went.

First bit nice and steady, extremely wet muddy path hard to stay upright. Plus my stick snapped in half on Saturday so I was hands-free and unstable! (nothing new there then haha)
The inclines start, and continue, and increase, and continue etc etc

Stability was the biggest issue this weekend, but we didn't fall over! *high five*
time-wise we did ok, got to Kingswear plastered in mud and rescued back to my little car by the legend that is Ian Sedgebeer, thanks again Ian :)

Next weekend I'm out on my own again, but hope to be joined by friends on 20th March

Speak soon
